Transfer the mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese over the top.

Cover loosely with foil (avoid touching the cheese) and bake for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.

Step 5: Let it rest
Remove from the oven and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes before serving. This helps everything set and makes it easier to scoop.
